Valerie
Won Lee

Award-Winning Leader, Bridging Cultures for Global Impact

She/Her

Good leaders remove obstacles, great leaders turn them into bridges.

Profile

Korean-born and European-raised, Valerie Won Lee grew up as the first Asian child in a small European town. That experience sparked an early curiosity about why people think and behave the way they do, leading her at age 11 to read psychology books to better understand social dynamics. This early exploration later shaped a lifelong interest in culture, identity, and human connection.

That curiosity carried her through more than two decades of work across 100+ nationalities and multiple sectors, ranging from luxury and technology to the United Nations. Valerie developed business, sales, and communication skills at LVMH, Issey Miyake, SAP, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and later led global communications and stakeholder engagement for the UN Global Platform on Big Data, supporting high-profile events in Dubai and London.

In 2014, Valerie founded World Citizen Artists, a global movement uniting artists with humanitarian causes through partnerships with organisations including the Bob Marley Foundation, the Gandhi Foundation, and Belgravia Gallery. She has also supported campaigns and fundraising initiatives for Amnesty International, the Pasteur Institute, and Marie Curie.

She is the author of Social-Impact-Global: Turning Obstacles Into Bridges, an Amazon #1 New Release, and the creator of the SIG Framework, a practical methodology for aligning social responsibility, communication, and global impact.

In 2025, Valerie received the WomenTech Network Gold Award for Leadership, recognised for expanding women-in-tech impact across Asia-Pacific and for launching the South Korea chapter.

She has delivered keynotes and talks at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific, South Summit Korea, Johns Hopkins Symposium, Bristol University, and at cultural events spanning Jamaica, Paris, and London.

Now based in South Korea, Valerie speaks fluent English and French, with conversational Spanish, and is currently learning Korean. Her cross-cultural perspective is not only professional experience, but it is a lived identity.
